Coastal-grade structural repair before refinishing or reglazing

Not every surface damage is cosmetic. Cracks in fiberglass or acrylic can flex and grow. Holes in cast iron can corrode. Surface delamination from a failed previous coating can spread. Before we reglaze or resurface any tub, we repair the substrate — properly — so the new coating bonds and lasts.

Our repair process uses marine-grade fiberglass filler and two-part epoxy chosen for Florida's coastal humidity. Most repairs are invisible under our topcoat. A Fort Myers condo unit built in 1978 with a hairline crack and peeling prior reglazing came out looking brand-new — no one could tell it was ever repaired.

Damage types we repair

  • Hairline cracks in fiberglass & acrylic tubs
  • Structural cracks through the tub wall
  • Holes and punctures from impact or drain hardware
  • Rust spots and corrosion in cast-iron porcelain
  • Delamination and bubbling from failed prior coatings
  • Spider cracks around drain flanges and overflow plates
  • Chips and gouges (standard chip repair included in full refinishing)

What’s included in every repair job

  • Full surface assessment & damage mapping
  • Mechanical removal of delaminated or failed coating
  • Marine-grade filler application & shaping
  • Two-part epoxy for structural cracks & holes
  • Sanding to flush & feather the repair
  • Bonding primer over repaired areas
  • Coastal-grade two-part urethane topcoat over the full surface
  • Color match to existing or new color of your choice
  • Silver (3-year) or Gold (limited lifetime) transferable warranty

Important: Structural repairs are typically done in the same visit as refinishing. We assess the damage first and advise if an additional visit is required for deep structural work.

Our 4-step repair & refinishing process

1

Assess & document

We map all damage — cracks, delamination, rust, chips — and photograph before we begin. No surprises on the final scope.

2

Structural repair

Marine-grade filler, two-part epoxy, and precision sanding bring the surface to flush and ready-to-coat condition.

3

Prime & reglaze

Bonding primer over all repaired areas, then coastal-grade urethane topcoat applied over the full surface for a seamless finish.

4

Cure & warranty

Ready to use the next morning. Silver or Gold transferable warranty covers the full refinished surface — repairs included.

★★★★★

"Our tub in Cape Coral had a crack that ran almost six inches — the previous guy said to replace it. Bathtub Pros repaired and reglazed it in one visit. A year later it still looks perfect and the warranty card is in our file."
— James R., Cape Coral

Bathtub repair FAQs

Can you repair a crack and then refinish in the same visit?

Yes, in most cases. We assess the crack depth on arrival. Surface-level and mid-wall cracks in fiberglass and acrylic are repaired and reglazed in the same 2.5–3.5 hour appointment. Deep structural cracks through the tub floor may require a separate hardening window before topcoat.

Will the repaired area be visible after reglazing?

No. The repair is sanded flush, primed, then the entire surface receives 2–3 topcoats of our coastal-grade urethane. The final surface is one uniform, high-gloss finish. You will not be able to see or feel where the crack was.

Do you repair cast iron tubs?

Yes. Cast iron tubs typically fail at the porcelain enamel surface — chips, rust spots, and crazing. We clean the rust, apply two-part epoxy filler, and reglaze the full surface. Many vintage cast iron tubs in older Naples and Lehigh Acres homes have been restored this way.

What's the difference between a chip repair and a structural repair?

Chip repair addresses small surface-only damage — missing enamel, small gouges, tiny cracks. Structural repair addresses damage that compromises the tub body — cracks that flex, holes, or delamination. All chip repair is included in our standard refinishing jobs. Structural repair is scoped per job.

Is refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing the same thing?

Yes. All three terms describe the same process: etching the old surface, applying primer, and spraying fresh urethane topcoat. We use all three terms because homeowners search for each. The result is identical.

What areas do you serve for tub repairs?

We repair and refinish tubs in Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Lehigh Acres, Sanibel, Punta Gorda, and Port Charlotte — all of Lee, Collier, and Charlotte counties.
