BATHTUB AND TILE WARRANTY

All our bathtub, tile, and counter refinishing work are guaranteed for five years. The warranty is transferable if you choose to sell the home within the effective period.

The warranty covers what we all consider product failure. This includes bubbling, peeling, cracking, crazing, spider webbing, and anything else that falls into this scope. If you drop a tool or break the soap dish, and it chips the surface, it is not covered under warranty.

If the tub drain cannot be easily removed and must be left in place, the warranty for the drain area is three years. Rust repairs are not covered. Any rust that returns after the refinish is NOT covered under warranty.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1.  How much will I save with bathtub refinishing as opposed to replacement?

    - Refinishing your bathtub will save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars over bathtub replacement. While a brand new bathtub may only cost $350, there can often be several hidden costs to replacement such as permitting, removal and disposal cost, plumbing alterations, and tile work. These costs add up, and you can easily end up spending close to $5000 to replace your bathtub.

  2.  How long does the bathtub refinishing process take?

    - Our refinishing process typically only takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours to complete. Your bathtub will usually be ready to use within another 1 to 12 hours after that, depending on factors like ambient temperatures and humidity. Why wait days or even weeks for a contractor to replace your bathtub when you can get the same results in only 24 hours?

  3. How long will my bathtub last?

    - The durability of a bathtub refinished by Bathtub Pros is very similar to that of a brand new bathtub. If properly maintained and no abrasive chemicals are used for cleaning it will last you many years just as a brand new bathtub would.

  4. How do I care for and clean my refinished bathtub?

    - Refinished bathtubs are often easier to clean than the original product. Make sure you use mild, non- abrasive cleaning products. Just as with a new bathtub, the finish or shine can be dulled by abrasive cleaners.

  5. Will my refinished bathtub look like it has been painted?

    - This is a common myth in the bathtub refinishing industry. Your bathtub will not look like it was painted, since the material we use is more like a coating than a paint. In fact, our technicians pride themselves on the fact that it is quite difficult for an untrained eye to tell the difference between a brand new bathtub and one that has been refinished by one of our certified Factory Technicians. In many cases, the refinished tub will actually look and perform better than a brand new tub. Our refinished warranty also exceeds the original manufacturers warranty.

  6. Will my refinished bathtub smell like it has been painted?

    - Our technicians come equipped with full ventilation systems for their protection as well as a fume extraction system for occupied units to expunge the fumes that do naturally occur with the use of solvents. Although you may notice a slight odor after we are finished, this typically is gone in a few hours.

  7. Do you repair cracks, chips, and scratches in my bathtub?

    - Our technicians will fill in any chips or other imperfections in your bathtub or other surface prior to the refinishing process, making your damaged porcelain, acrylic, or fiberglass surface as good as new.

  8. I am remodeling my bathroom, when should I contact you?

  9. We ask that you contact us as soon as possible to set up a date. You should have any new tile around the tub fully installed before refinishing. It is recommended that any major construction, cabinet installations, wall modifications, etc., be fully completed before refinishing is applied. This will help to make sure that your new finish is not accidentally damaged by the other work being performed. If other work must be completed after the resurfacing process, notify the contractors so they will not put ladders or tools in or on the new finish. The tub should not be used for cleaning paint brushes, etc.

  10. What if I want a custom color?

We can match any color in the Kohler and Sherwin-Williams palette. Just provide us with a color sample and allow one week for us to order the custom color. For specific instructions on how to provide a color sample or how to order a custom color for your bathtub refinishing, use the contact form below, or call us at 855.RESURFACE

  11. How do I care for my finish?

We will leave send you instructions for care of your newly refinished bathtub or other fixture. A few important points to remember are that during the first 7-10 days, the finish is still curing, so it is best to take special care during this period and keep use to a minimum. Going forward, it will be best to clean your tub lightly, but in greater frequency. For example, clean lightly a couple times per week, instead of waiting for a month when only hard scrubbing will remove the inevitable build-up. Additionally, soap scum and other residue can trap water beneath it on the surface, and over time deteriorate the finish. Use only non-abrasive and non-corrosive cleaning products. Please avoid storing soap and other items directly on the surface, use a rack of some sort. Any standing water can deteriorate this finish and your bathtub (this is, in fact, often a reason that we are called in to refinish a bathtub). Any leaky faucets should be repaired by a qualified professional ASAP. The caulk seal around your tub should be water tight and maintained. If there is ever any break or holes in your caulk, they should be sealed immediately so as to avoid water getting around the side of the tub and possibly between the tub and the new finish.

  12. Do you use acid etch or a bonding agent?

  13. - We do both. We perform an acid etch to make sure the surface is porous and creates a chemical bond. We follow that up with a silane bonding agent to ensure the process is complete by creating a molecular bond.  Overkill, perhaps. But we have yet to return to a completed project where the actual product failed!
